Laine Bergeson

An avid, lifelong reader, Laine happily stumbled into a career in magazine journalism eight years ago, when she realized that a magazine she enjoyed reading was published locally; she applied for an internship in the hopes that she would get free copies to read. (She did.)

Better still, Laine discovered that she loved — and was passably talented at — writing, editing, research, and the overall art of magazine making. When she joined the Experience Life team in December 2005, it was a chance for her to fuse her passion for words with another one of her primary interests — holistic, whole-person health. Laine is deeply committed to eating whole, real foods; avoiding toxic household and yard chemicals; and living an authentic, healthy life. She practices Kundalini yoga and goes for a long walk in her neighborhood every day.

Laine’s writing has appeared in Utne Reader, Whole Life Times, a host of regional publications including The Minneapolis Observer Quarterly, and been anthologized in textbooks and essay collections. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn. and a graduate certificate in Women’s Studies from the National University of Ireland, Galway in Galway Ireland.

Laine lives in Minneapolis with her partner, Desiree, their three dogs and one cat. She spends her free time gardening, traveling, reading and fostering homeless pets.
